Alan Searle and Jeri Carey led us through our annual Ingathering Water Ceremony, marking the beginning of a new year. Amy Wilkerson graciously provided a beautiful table with a water bowl to collect the water. As attendees participated, they told of the source of their water, then poured it into the bowl. Water, real or surrogate, came from a variety of locations scattered around North America and Europe. Alan and Jeri added readings and music to round out the service.
At the end of the service, Ellie Klauminzer presented checks to the recipients of the Empty Bowls Project, headed up by Hobie Denny. The August 16th event raised $2100 and was split between three food banks - FISH Gig Harbor (Jane Hampton), South Kitsap Help Line (Susan Saiki), and Key Peninsula Community Services (Penny Gazabat). Over the past four years the Empty Bowls Project has raised over $10,000 for these organizations.
