Announcements, Announcements, Announcements
Our UU friends and neighbors in Florida and the Caribbean—including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands—have experienced extraordinary devastation following Hurricanes Irma and Maria.
We invite you to contribute to the UUA Disaster Relief Fund (formerly the Hurricane Irma Recovery Fund) so the UUA can provide financial assistance to UU congregations impacted by these and other natural disasters. In addition to facilitating their own disaster recovery, congregations receiving disaster relief funds will have discretion to provide financial assistance to their members, as well as to support local partner organizations serving the community at large.
To donate by mail, please make check payable to the UUA with "Disaster Relief Fund" on the memo line, and send to UUA Gift Processing, 24 Farnsworth St, Boston, MA 02210.

Most of us think of it as a complimentary ingredient of any beach vacation. Yet those seemingly insignificant grains of silica surround or daily lives. Is sand an infinite resource? Can the existing supply satisfy a gigantic demand fueled by construction booms.

Marcia Christen is a Certified Trainer with the Center for Nonviolent Communication and a member of KUUF.
Good, heart-felt, compassionate communication is tough! How do we stay connected with our family members and neighbors who see the world, especially the political world, differently than we do? Non-violent communication is both a spiritual practice and a set of skills that help us maintain relationships and create healing and reconciliation
Hank Payne and Claire Favro will provide their lively and heart-felt music.
As always, a small gift of finger food to share during Fellowship Hour after the service is much appreciated.
Open Seseme: The Story of Seeds
One of the world's most precious resources is at risk. This timely and emotionally moving documentary illuminates what is at stake and what can be done to protect the source of nearly all our food: SEEDS. They are as essential to life as the air we breathe or water we drink...but given far less attention.

On this Memorial Day weekend, we will remember all of our loved ones who have died by sharing joyful stories about their lives. We ask that everyone bring a flower in remembrance of a loved one to share with another on this day. They will be placed in a vase, which symbolizes our community, and we will each take another flower from the vase. The UU Flower Communion signifies our community. Our common bouquet wouldn't be the same without the unique addition of each flower and thus it is with our PUUF community. Just as no two flowers are alike, no two people are alike, yet each has a contribution to make.
John Hoover will once again contribute his superb musicianship and singing voice to our service. As always, a small gift of finger food or share during Fellowship Hour after the service is much appreciated.
Acting on our beliefs and principles, we are interested in working with our community members to make Gig Harbor a welcoming community. We have a proposal for possible language for a resolution to present to the city. Please join us in our efforts by signing our petition.

Join PUUF on May 14 as we celebrate mothers with stories, memories, and sharing. This will also be our last regular service led by Rev. Florence Caplow, who will be leaving the northwest to be closer to her aging mother in the midwest.
