Kitsap Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Garden Tour
Saturday June 25, 2016
1pm to 6pm
A labor of love! That is what awaits you when five gardeners on the KUUF garden tour open their gardens especially for UUs. These are no cookie-cutter, landscaper-designed gardens. They are reflections of individual creativity and dirty fingernails! Each is unique, beautiful and full of ideas to try in your very own gardens. You will get a special garden tip at each site, light refreshments, and a personal tour so you can take your time and ask all the questions you want.
Please join us for a relaxing, aesthetic afternoon in the garden.
For tickets email Carolee at firstname.lastname@example.org
The sangha/meditation group that meets at Betty Jean's has chosen a name. We are the Still Mountain Rain sangha. We are open to all and you do not have to be a UU to attend. We meet from 3:30 to 5:00pm on Wed. Please be on time or come in and join the circle in honored silence. We are lead by Barbara Casey who is a dharma teacher in the Thich Nhat Hanh tradition and has been ordained into the Order of Interbeing. Beginners are welcome. Please call Betty Jean for more information or directions. 253-432-4417.

JOHN HOOVER: MOTHER’S DAY CONCERT
Puffins (PUUF members and guests) are invited to share a Mother’s Day joy or inspiration with members of the congregation in the form of poetry, art, a memory, a photograph - something tangible or intangible that honors anyone who has parented, comforted, provided, defended, taught, sustained or inspired them.
John Hoover returns to us to sing and play a Mother’s Day concert. His glorious voice and guitar music never fail to thrill and move us.

CLIMATE CHANGE, SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE, AND BELIEF: WHY WE (YES, UUs, TOO) RESIST NEW INFORMATION
The fourth UU principle is the free and responsible search for truth and meaning. For many UUs this includes understanding societal concerns like global climate change. Growing evidence that climate change is happening and is primarily human-caused has been met with continued skepticism by some. But such skepticism is not limited to climate change, or to people with less formal education. This talk addresses our human tendency to resist new information that challenges our beliefs.
Tom Koontz is an Associate Professor at UW Tacoma working in environmental science, environmental studies, and sustainability.

REV. KAREN TALIESIN
How can we lift up truth and give honor even to those with whom we deeply disagree? Allowing the grace of understanding, empathy, and change to manifest itself in ongoing ways in all our relationships is perhaps our most difficult task - yet the one that may offer the very sustenance we need to survive.
Rev. Karen Taliesin is a chaplain at Seattle Children’s Hospital and a minister affiliated with East Shore Unitarian Church in Bellevue.
We need help maintaining our books. If this is an area of expertise or if you are just someone who is good with details, this could be a good fit for you.
Also, if you have computer skills, we are looking for someone to take Becky's place monitoring and cultivating our online presence. In addition to these emails using MailChimp, she keeps the website up to date using Weebly, monitors and forwards emails appropriately using Gmail, and adds events to our Meetup page. It sounds like a lot, but the programs are very user friendly and it requires 1-2 hours a week. Becky is looking to transition out of this role by the end of June so there is lots of time to develop skills too!
Contact Judy, email@example.com to volunteer.
If you have not yet participated in our survey, please do so this week. The board wants to know what you like and what we can do to better meet the needs of you, our members and friends.
