Nov. 11, 2018 Gratitude as a Spiritual Practice Rev. Carol McKinley
Unitarian Universalism’s Seventh Principle calls us to affirm our respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part. When we reflect deeply on these words. we may experience a feeling of awe at being part of the infinite span of life, wonder at the amazing universe we share with others. Can we not feel gratitude for being part of something larger than ourselves? Expressing our gratitude to others thus becomes a spiritual practice so desperately needed in these troubled times.
The Reverend Carol McKinley is a community minister affiliated with the Olympia Unitarian Universalist Congregation, where she coordinates its Faith in Action Ministry. She also serves on the PNWD Healthy Congregations Team.
