Claiming my Legacy: Betty HermanSunday, January 10- 4:00pm- Burley Community Hall
In his book, Illusions, Richard Bach wrote: "Here is a test to see if your mission on earth is finished. If you are alive, it isn't" As we start the new year, our January presentations are on the theme of "OK, I'm alive - so what is MY Mission, and what do I need to do to live that mission?" This exploration will be in the realm of both self definition and practical areas of who we are and what we need to do.
On January 10, we will learn how to define our gifts and how we want those gifts, strengths, and lessons to be manifested in others after we have passed. Please read Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End, by Atul Gawande, available in local libraries.
Betty Herman does Outreach and Care Management for Martha and Mary at Home, a non-profit that provides services for elders.
Continuum of Care: Betty Herman and Rachel YantzerSunday, January 24- 4:00pm- Burley Community Hall
This is an informative workshop presentation that outlines the potential stages of a senior's life from full independence to last breath and how to plan realistically for each stage. This week Betty Herman is joined by Rachel Yantzer, a hospice professional for 9 years providing complementary therapies, working with kitsap, multicare, and group health hospices. We will explore continuums of care and how to have a say in our personal future.
Both this service and the service on the 10th are great opportunities to invite your adult "children" to join us.
